Blocks 20 & 21 for Splendid Sampler and Bonus Earth Day block

Good morning, my Splenderettes!  Yes, it's still morning here in my neck of the woods (Texas).  And, I'm wanting to sew, sew, sew!  But, first, a little tiny bit of blogging.  Here are my three blocks this week, outside with my new pink geranium.  I love pink!

And, now, for some close-ups.  First up, block 20, Nature's Walk.  Designed by Vick Tucek.  We have over 85 designers on this project and I really need to include their names.  They're fantastic!

Block 21, Sweet Candy.  Designed by Kris Thurgood.  Can you see the little candy piece in the middle?  Maybe, I should have switched the dark green for the pink and green fabric.  Oh well.  Maybe later...wink!

And, a bonus block, Earth Day.  Designed by Cheryl Arkison.
Love how this one turned out!  And, the pinwheel underneath it comes out perfect!  I didn't want to put anything on top of it.  Oh well.  Turned out so good.  Still pinching myself.  Love it when that happens.  hehehe

You come back next week, cause I'm working on some other projects that are to die for!  And, I've got to get back to 'em!  Like right now!  hehehe

Splendid Sampler Blocks 18 & 19 and Aurifil April BOM

Block 18, Lina's Gift, made with Mermaid Power!  I have so enjoyed this little Mermaid doll I found at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas, some years ago.  It's home is right under my sewing glass, where I can see her everyday.  Once a Mermaid, Always a Mermaid!  She only cost like $3, but, has brought millions in smiles :)

Block 19, Measure Twice, Cut Once... A sure joy to stitch.  Never knew I loved hand stitching so much (well, I have might have had a clue...wink)!

And, some Aurifil Love!  This is my April, Block 4, High Tide.  Doesn't look like much now, but, I was able to use the rest of my little bundle of fabrics I bought to use for this project and, now, I can get everything up on my design wall and see what works and what doesn't and tweak it a bit.  I like doing that.  I really think this will look so great with all the other blocks I've been making!  I'm so happy with the fabric.  Having so much fun playing with different fabric and seeing what it makes!

And, I have more in the wings!  And, so excited about it all!  But, it's taking me some time to gather supplies.  Living out in the middle of nowhere.....takes some online ordering of basic supplies....zippers, metal loops, etc....  hint, hint!

Splendid Sampler Blocks 16 & 17 and Secret Garden update!

I am so enjoying my quilting journey with the year-long quilt along.  We're making two blocks a week for a total of 100 blocks, which will take us into February, 2017.  This is my first year-long quilt along.  And, there are thousands of people from all over the world making the blocks too.  I especially like the blocks from Australia with their kangaroo fabric.

Let's see, block 16, Pieces of Friends.  Check out my new little Butterfly friend.

And, lovely block 17, Family Stars.  I names my Jule's Star, after my Grandpa, for the center aqua star.  My little Blue Bird of Happiness makes his debut.  I've had him for a long time.  He sits in my kitchen window.  He's been there every since I've had him.

And, then, there's my Secret Garden mystery quilt along!  Played around with my blocks this past week and, I'm so happy I did.  I was trying for different colors in all my blocks, but, it just didn't work for me.  I liked the pink!  So, this is what happened.  First, I was out in my secret garden (hehe), when a great big butterfly landed on my big flower Block 4.  How fun is that?  So fun!  The butterfly was alittle added bit of mine, not on pattern.  But, I just couldn't help myself!

So, now, I have updated all four blocks to....

Notice, the difference in lighting!  All top blocks were photographed outside in the pretty sunlight.  The darker photo at bottom with all four Secret Garden blocks was taken inside on my design wall in my Quilt Studio.  Big difference.  So pretty in pink.......don't you think? As Pat Sloan would say....wink!

See y'all next week.  This looks like the day I'll be posting my blogs.  What a great way to start the week ahead of quilting.

Blocks 14 & 15 Splendid Sampler

Let's get on with this Epic Splendid Sampler....shall we?

Block 14 is Flying High.  You can get the free pattern Block 14.  I used my beautiful variegated Aurifil 12 weight thread.

And, Block 15 is Family Affair.  You can get the free paper pieced pattern Block 15.  I spent a lot of time sewing the final seam on this block.  In fact, I sewed it three times!  And, was so proud of myself and posted it, only to find out I sewed it together wrong!  What?!?  Yep.  I did.  I didn't mean to, but, I did.  And, spent a lot of time doing it.  Oh well.  Can't have everything.  And, you know, I don't think I could do that on purpose.  So, I'm leaving it.  I just love that secondary pattern it made.
