Blocks 12 & 13 of the Splendid Sampler and more Bonus Blocks too

Block 12 Checkerboard by Pat Sloan  Get block pattern Checkerboard.  This used some strip piecing to make it easier to piece small pieces.  Finally, I got to make a pretty pink block.  For Easter!  That was fun.

And, so were all the extra Bonus Blocks this week.  I started out with just the one pink flower block, but, thought it didn't really photograph well, so, I made a second one.  Much better and, it goes with my little pink polka dot bunny rabbits!  My first bunny rabbit block EVER!  So exciting.  Yes, I guess my quilting growing up hasn't included any yet, and, I adore little rabbit bunnies!  So, this will definitely be the first of many to come in the future.  I don't even have a Easter Quilt to hang up above the table, so, this will definitely help rectify that.  Oh, yes it will.  Find your Flower and Bunny Easter block patterns... Bonus Blocks.

Now, on to block 13, we got the link as an early release.  How fun is that?  It's like the Easter Bunny coming early!  Get the pattern...Scrap Stars  (block on right).  The block on left is yet another Bonus Block from the gifted Pat Sloan!  You can get the link to the pattern called Inside (block on left).  The Gnome, also, a find of Pat Sloan's (she posted one on her blog a couple years ago, from was on sale)  Well, I bought one!  But, she didn't!!!!  LOL  Now, she wants one.  So funny! Looks like you'll be seeing more of this little guy.  He goes so well with aqua blocks!  So, he has a name.....Aqua Man!

Splendid Sampler Blocks 10 & 11 and two Bonus blocks

Splendidly we blog along, blog along, blog!

Block 10, Iowa.  I started out with this fabric placemat.  Here's the link....Block 10.

But, ended up with this....I thought it went better with previous block.  I don't know, maybe I'll change back to original placemat.

Moving on....block 11 was more fun than you can shake a rattlesnake with?!?   Here's the link....Block 11.

I started out with this, traced my design on fabric using a pencil and a lightbox.  And, my brand spanky new Aurfil 12 weight thread hubby unknowingly bought me for our 19th Anniversary.  He was upset at first that I bought them (not cheap) but, came around to them being a good deal (almost half price and free shipping from Green Fairy Quilts)  egads y'all.....they're still on sale!  Tell them Dianna Sent you!  Here's a pic of them.

Just loved sewing this little block....first time all around.

Second time all around...

Third time all around, almost done.

fourth time all around.  middle part done, which, represents a little crocheted doily, which, my great grandmother used to make.  My grandmother used to tell me that when we sat around crocheting afghans.  Made me smile all the time I sewed, thinking about my grandma and the precious time I got to spend with her.

And, the yarn part, all done.

And, the little crocket hook added.  I made this block in honor of my grandmother.  She loved turquoise!  Her favorite color.  And, we used to have red crocket hooks.  At least, I did.  I still do.

And, bonus blocks this week!  So fun.  Here's one from Pat Sloan, Just For You
While these colors look so yummy together in person.  They didn't photograph very well, so, I might remake this one.

And, then, this bunny block for Easter was so fun.  Love how this one turned out.  Still have to use my new Aurifil 12 weight thread to blanket stitch this.  Get this block HERE.

Happy Easter everyone!

Block 7 Splendid Sampler & Block 8

Snug as a Bug far right block!  And, as you can see, all seven blocks together.  I'm having so much fun making all these precious little blocks.  And, that's a good thing because there are 93 more to go!

And, block 8 Friends All Around.  It was so nice outside, after buckets of rain, that I took my little block out to get his photo with my new yellow daisies!  So pretty, both of them.  You can make your block with the pattern from HERE.  Look for Block 7 and 8 at that link.

Tomorrow, March 13, 2016, we get block 9!  Be ready!
