It's a new blog baby....Block 74 thru Block 80 Splendid Sampler

And, here I am writing wayyyyy later than I wanted too, but, that's how I roll....where ever the winds blows.  And, boy is it blowing!  It's been raining here for three days now, today is day four!  Sooo, Who'll Stop the Rain comes to my mind.  In the meantime, let me show what has been going on over here on my marvelous Splendid Sampler 100 Epic blocks!

Block 74, Button Basket.  What an amazing block and I learned a new skill.  Always fun.  And, look at Mermaid's wild hair!  Took me a couple of days to figure out how to get that handle to settle down and get sewed on here.  But, with the help my new friends, I got it!  Thanks to my new Splendid Sampler friend!

My new friends from the Splendid Sampler I got to meet in person at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas last month.  We all had a block, but, Tammie had brought all her blocks from some far off distant land.  And, I looked at every single one of them.  There were all so precious!  And, all pink....my favorite color!

Block 75, Stitch Crazy.  Now, this is where I got a little mixed up with my placement.  This block is now in a different location on my quilt.  Can't be helped.  Don't know what I was thinking when I made this block, but, it is what it is because it caused a chain reaction, and, all's well that ends well.

HAVE TO ADD PIC LATER, GUESS I DIDN'T GET A PIC...WHAT?!?

Here it is.  Already added in quilt, but, came out lovely.  Worked on this for a week or more.  And, loved every minute of it.  Now, I'm hand piecing in the evenings on an old, old project while I wait for another embroidery block.  Do you think we'll get one?

Block 76, Little Things.  Such a fun little block.  And, I just adore teacups!  I have lots of them!  And, my absolute favorite tea lately is Cinnamon Apple Spice.  Hubby says I'm running low again!  Oh my!  Put that on the list please for groceries.  Note, again, placement of this block will not be in it's assigned position.

Block 77, Prism.  What another fun block and I got to showcase more butterfly fabric.  Always a win, win for me...hehe.  Note, placement is again rearranged for this block also.  Practically, the whole row has been shifted around.

Block 78, Jersey.  I don't even know what to say about this block, but, it has been moved also.  Had to go look at my quilt to see where i put it.  Looks good.

Block 79, Spool of Inspirational Threads.  And, that's exactly what I did!  Used my fabric to tell the Inspirational story.  And, I love it!  And, I so cheated on this block, I'm almost embarrassed.  But, it turned out so good!  Can't complain about that.  Looks like I already put it in the quilt before I took the pic.  Sorry about that.  But, I love it.  Still one of my favorite blocks.

Block 80, Heartstring Star.  Look who got to make an appearance on my quilt!  Yeah!  I so love stars...and horses!

That's it for now y'all.  I'm currently working on a million things with the holidays here and everything.  So, my blogs will be whenever I can squeeze two minutes together.  My goal here is to document all 100 blocks, and, I'm doing that.  With just 20 more blocks to go, Looks like I will make it!  And, then, I can throw my hat up in the air like Mary Tyler Moore!

Happy Christmas to all....

Splendid Samper Block 68 thru Block 73

Update...update!  Read all about it!

Let's do an update, so, I can get to Festival!  As, in International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas!  That'd be the one!  I love going!  I've been going since 2001 or 2002 when I first began quilting officially.  I'm so excited this year!  Let's get some work done before I go....

Block 68, Wild Rose.  What a great place to start.  Mermaid has been such a big help to me.

Block 69, Full Circle.  Love how Mermaid is peeking out from her safe spot....always encouraging me.

Block 70,  Bows.  Such a challenging little block, but, oh so worth it!

That completes another row.  Now, on to the next row.  Block 71, First Stitch.  Loved this block so much, I made two versions.

Block 72, Full Circle Star.  One of my favorites.  Too bad I had to mess it up some!  So precious anyway.  I'm keeping it!

And, last, but, not least for now, Block 73, +Love.  Pretty in pink, I call it.

That's it for now, my dear quilting peeps.  Going to go pack for Quilt Fest!!!

My Butterfly Secret Garden goes to Japanese Tea Garden

What a hot day in San Antonio!  But, what a wonderful time!  It was 97 degrees without humidity, so, probably over 100 degrees.  My sister went with me and they were having a festival, of course!  But, we still managed to capture some great photos.  Hope you enjoy.

First, you have to see the beautiful Japanese koi fish that greeted us.  I love them!

Block 62 thru Block 67 For the Splendid Sampler and a new Moda project!

Hello my fellow quilty peeps!  You know I love you!  And, I'm continuing this journey of a 100 epic blocks called the Splendid Sampler...Oh yes I am!  Let's get you caught up, so, you, too can hopefully be inspired by my little blocks.

Block 62,  Hen and Chicks.  Don't know how that fox got in the middle of my Hen and Chicks.  But, I sure hope he doesn't get any little chicks.

Block 63, Icing on the Cake.  This was so fun!  I love cupcakes!  Mermaid helped.  She helped with a lot of blocks!  Couldn't do this without her!  I've had so much fun displaying her with my blocks and so many fun comments on the Facebook Splendid Sampler Group page.  Just everywhere really.  I always get asked about her.  I'm thinking of naming after a friend I didn't get to meet in person yet, only on Facebook.  She had cancer and I remember her asking me about her when I first meet her.  I was so shocked she lost her battle!  I thought she was going to survive.  Breaks my heart.  Jeanne Renee, naming her after you.

Block 64, Rising Star.  Again, Mermaid helped me.

Block 65, Stripe and Flowers.  Shell helped me with this one.  I love the little pink flowers and tree in this block.

Block 66, Happy Thoughts.   Mermaid (JeanneRenee) helped me so much on this one.  I tried desperately to get that butterfly in the center where she belonged, but, she just wasn't having it!  She is definitely my Happy Thoughts!

Block 67, Bobbin Chase.  Now, this block goes back to my friend, Scott Hansen with Blue Nickel Studios.  He is so cool!  I'd love to meet his wife though, she makes dolls, I hear!!!!  Anyway, Such a fun, fun block to make in many, many different ways.  We all had a blast making his block in several different variations.  Here's some of mine.  I started with the top version, using my extra butterfly squares from block 2/100.  But, I thought it was a bit busy, so, I replaced center block with a more plain block.  But, then, I saw somebody's brilliant different fabric placement and went ga-ga for it!  And, I blame it all on Mermaid.  She made me do that version!  lol!

Today, Block 68 was released.  It's a big beautiful flower pattern!  So, you know I need to get off of here and go make it!  but, before I do that I'm going to share a little bit about another new project I'm working on.  It's called Moda Be My Neighbor.  It's 16 of the biggest blocks I think I've ever made, which, is a real contrast to the small 6" blocks I've been making for SS.  Oh my!  What a difference.  And, their block patterns are coming out every week!  So, it's moving along fast!  I'm just going to show you all my blocks so far.  Blocks 1-5...here goes...these are all Pat Sloan's fabrics, different lines except the window sewing blocks and the yellow bird.  I love how all her fabric lines compliment each other.  And, I'm adding the link, so you can play too :)

that's it for now peeps!  Love chatting with you.  I mean, sharing all my blocks with you.  There's more!  I think I need to start blogging every day or so while I'm making stuff.  Currently, I have all the pieces for four huge potholders all cut and ready to be quilted and sewed.  And, I have all the parts, top, back and batting for a halloween quilt ready to be sandwiched and quilted AND I have all 12 blocks finished from my Secret Butterfly Garden!  So much to do....so little time....Luv ya all....till next time....mooowhah!

Splendid Sampler blocks 58 thru 61 and Secret Butterfly Garden

Hello, my quilty friends!  Yes, I said Quilty!  It's a word...well, it should be!

Block 58, Homeward Bound.  What's that you say???  Let's see.....

Block 59, Circle of Friendship.  Love dresden plate blocks!  Not sure they love me.  Oh well, at least mermaid helped me show it to you.

Couldn't stand the wobbly circle, so, I re-worked it.  I simply took out stitching and traced a line with pencil where circle should have been sewn and re-stitched.  Much better.  Shown here with sashing.

Block 60, Hearts and Flowers.  This one took me a few days.  I took my time really, enjoying the leisure hand embroidery.  This concludes another row!!!!!!!!  Whippeeeee!  Four more rows to go!  Quite a journey!  First time for me making 100 block project!  Learning so much about a lot of things and, not just new quilting techniques....time, planning, pacing, focus, rest....this is quite a list in and of itself.

Block 61, Traveler.  Created by Pat Sloan (check out her blog).  One Who Travels alot!  Love her block, love her blog, love her patterns, love her fabric!!!!!!  And, although, this is not her fabric, I have used her fabric a lot and I always get the most compliments when I do!  My friend, Kathy is using her fabric.  Let's get her block over her....

This is Kathy's block.  If you click on her name, it'll take you to her blog.  Thanks for permission to share your block Kathy!  She is using all Pat Sloan fabrics.  Don't you just love them???  I do!

And, now its time for little fun.  Here's a bonus block, Flip Floppin.

And, now, for some Secret Garden blocks.  I'm calling mine Secret Butterfly Garden because I can!  LOL!  This is Block 9.  Again, you get to visit the talented Pat Sloan's page because she designed this BOM with her sponsors, Free Quilt Patterns.com.  I love this block!  I am running out of fabric's I've used and, so, that has dictated fabric placement for me.  I should do this every month!  So, so happy with the results.  Maybe it was the block designer!  Maybe!  LOL!  I am having way too much fun with this BOM.

Bonus block for Secret Garden (Secret Butterfly Garden), which is the same pattern as block 2, but, different fabric placement.

And, BOOM!  All my precious blocks hanging up.  Well, almost all of them.  Eight are hanging up (the last eight) and three (the first three) are still on the ground.  I ran out of room and the mosquitos were biting me so bad, I had to hurry up, snap, grab blocks and run for the house!!!!  Never did that so fast in my life!  Then, of course, I had to straighten up all the blocks because I really did just grab and go!  Like grabbing all your clothes off the clothesline right before a downpour.

Okay, so there's more......what can I say?  busy little bee...speaking of bees....these landed on my head walking out the door the other day.  Scared me.  I was dancing around, trying to shake off whatever fell on my head, into my hair and, down the back of my shirt!  I found these two doing a little dance of making baby bees!  What?!?

Moving on....would have rather had a butterfly land on my head!  Anyway, a dear friend found a link to this cute little butterfly block and I just had to make it.  Posting link for you....butterfly block.  You have to check it out!  You can win a bundle of some precious fabrics...just saying...

Oh!  There's more!  Don't you worry your pretty little head about that!  Now, let's see....one Charity Quilt done...

And, one pillowcase.  Again, this was a challenge from Pat Sloan blog last year or so and I'm just now getting around to quilting it and giving it one of our charities at the quilt guild.

Anything else???  Oh yes, of course!  I have been playing around with butterfly blocks and came up with this design.  My own design.  Thinking about doing a tutorial on it.

That's it for now.  Back to sewing for me.......how about you???
